navigator4
This car was modified for mining use, so all that's left is the dash/firewall. It's a Silver Dome, the gauges looks to be '28-'29, but that trim above it shows up in '30. Maybe I just didn't look at enough pics...
keiser31
Looks like a 1929 Model 75 Chrysler to me.
navigator4
Thanks for the reply! A bit more searching found pics of a '29 Chrysler 75 R/S coupe that look right. The gauges and the area above them are the main items I was looking to compare, I believe that originally ithere was wood trim there. The vent door, running lights, and other details look correct, too. This is what I found: http://www.desertclassics.com/chrys28ruble.html This car is on a mountainside near an aerial tram that was used for mining in the mid 40's. I suspect it was the power source until a Novo Outfit (slusher/winch) with a Buda engine was somehow transported to the mine site at the top of the tram. The dashboard trim pieces were woodgrained with paint, not real wood.
navigator4
Keiser31,thanks, that makes sense, I didn't see how wood would have attached. Noticed that some Chryslers (roadsters?) that have that dash do not have the same trim above. Seeing you sig, you might enjoy this other mine relic, a 1930 Dodge DC8... keiser31
Yes, the trim above the roadster and touring car dashboards has a different look. That 1930 looks familiar. Did you post it before? That fuel tank looks to be repairable.... Edited July 29, 2016 by keiser31 (see edit history)
navigator4
The Dodge is also on the side of a mountain, beyond roads. Gotta wonder if it was worth the effort to get this machinery where it is? I have not posted this car before, but a friend may have put it up a few years ago.
navigator4
Couple more pics taken today... Paint on frame (flipped photo because it's written upside down) appears to read GS 11.7.28. Block stamp looks like R288160. No other plates/labels.
