Robert G. Smits Posted June 7, 2016 Share Posted June 7, 2016 Can the block drains be removed on a 455 Centurion without removing the exhaust manifolds? I have been under the car and I can't even find them. Do I even need to worry about draining the block when flushing and replacing the antifreeze on a car that hasn't been driven in over 10 years? To remove them (freeze plugs) you really need to remove the manifolds and to remove the manifolds, it's just as easy to pull the heads. You'll break manifold bolts and there is no practical way to drill them out with the heads on the engine. I would use a good coolant flush and call it a day.... Robert G. Smits Posted June 8, 2016 Author Share Posted June 8, 2016 Thanks Brad. After lying under the car for 20 minutes this was my impression unless there was an easy access that I wasn't seeing. Also the antifreeze I drained out looked very clean. I have pulled the radiator already and will have it flow tested. Has anyone had experience with the Gano coolant filters?
