27donb
There is a small hole in the top of the steering column of my 24-45, near the hub of the steering wheel spokes. Is this a drain hole, and it should be rotated to the underside of the column? Is it some kind of an oil hole? Or should it not be there? Does your 1924 Buick have a hole in the steering column in this location? Edited June 4, 2016 by 27donb (see edit history)
AzBob
27Donb, For what its worth, I drilled an 1/8 inch diameter hole in approximately the same location on the steering column of my 1926-26 for oiling purposes to quiet a squealing bearing. This was after I had removed the controls and an unsuccesful attempt to remove the steering wheel. After an application of lube through the hole the noise eventually went away. I keep the hole covered with a spot of electrical tape.

ROD W
This one has a hole right at the top. There is a felt bush at the top of the column, Its possible these holes were drilled later on to lubricate a dry bush.
