FireballV8
HiI have a set of the pictured boards and cannot figure where they would go on a 1940 Buick. Are these for the new super torpedo bodies?I know the special has regular running boards. Or what are these and what model do they fit.Thx
jvelde
Streamboards mount below the rocker panels between the front and rear fenders in place of where running boards would be mounted. You can Google 1940 Buick and click on images to see examples. Can't tell you what series they fit, they might have a part number stamped somewhere that would tell us. Edited October 1, 2015 by J. Guest buickguyflint
Believe it or not some new owners of 1940 Buicks were not happy with the new Torpedo body as there were complaints of dirt and mud easily entering the new bodies as there was no running board to prevent this. I have drawings of factory running boards that were made available to those owners that wanted them but what an eyesore they must have been as they stuck out beyond the lines of the fenders both front and rear. But the customer is always right! Jim
