novaman
I personally don't know of a special tool for these cables. I've got them on one of my Chevy II Novas. What I have found to work nicely without tearing them up is a pair of flat nosed pliers. Anything with a pointed nose doesn't get a secure grip and ends up slipping. At least that my experience with them.
palbuick
I have spring ring cables on my car. What I found works best is a screwdriver that is large enough to insert into the slot of the cable head, and twist gently pulling upwards.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
novaman
palbuick, What is your car?
I've tried the screwdriver thing and started to mess up the terminal. Maybe I was having a problem the the "gently" thing.

Convt, Resale Red W/white bucket seats, 425 CI, 2 X4
Using screwdriver carefully won't hrur or scar the lead head, using liers you can bend the tips of the head, I also am using the felt washers under the connectors, help save the cable from corrison. Al Smeraldo
There used to be a special pliers for these. I think I saw it in a Snap On catalog years ago. I never saw one in person though.
