izo369
Hello,Can anyone tell me what are the correct center caps for a 1965 (401ci) with chrome wheels? My 65 came with smooth simple chrome center caps with the Riv emblem in the middle. I have also seen 65's with a longer/deeper fluted chrome center cap. Is one more corrrect then the other? Not sure how but I lost a cap last weekend and am looking for replacements and was wondering which is technically correct. Thanks Dan ROA 14283
1965rivgs
Hi Dan, Sounds like you have the correct cap assuming the "R" is silver and the background is black. The fluted cap started in `66. Cars in NJ had repros available and probably still do. Also, Mitch Romanowski should carry them. Good luck, Tom Mooney

Mr Riviera
Be sure the center cap hole is 2 inches , not 2 1/8 . If it matches Toms description and is 2 inches - what you have is correct .
izo369
and if the center cap hole is 2 1/8, what does that mean? a different year, a reproduction......?
RivNut
A different year. No reproductions exist for the rally wheel in the 15" diameter, 6" wide wheel with the 5 on 5" bolt pattern. Similar wheels are reproduced for the Buick GS (Skylark) but they're 15 x7" with the 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern. There are reproduction 17" aftermarket wheels in various widths with the 5 on 5" bolt pattern. To see what wheels you really have, you'd have to dismount a tire and look at the stamped code then hope that all four are the same.I'm pretty sure that Mitch Romanowski makes reproduction '65 center caps that will fit the larger 2-1/8" center holesEd
