72gs455
Yeah, I read quite a few posts on cleaning sludge, I have a 322 I just received to put in my project. I know there's gonna be some sludge to clean up. I am going to open it up to look, I plan on checking bearing clearances and see how the cylinder walls look. If machining is not needed and only needs cleaning. What is recommended, kerosene, brakekleen, ATF ???? I really don't wanna do much more than freeze plugs and gaskets, besides removing gunk!go ahead and blast away! Right or wrong lemme have it! old-tank
Clean the pan and heads. Any other deposits in the engine are stuck and happy as is. Don't put anything in other than the engine oil of choice.Willie
Guest NikeAjax
Not to scare the ca-ca out of you, but my engine was so bad, that the guy who boiled it out said he'd never seen one as bad as mine, and he'd been doing it for 40-years! After three boil-outs, I had to go in with a ball-peen-hammer and a really long screwdriver and dig: it was like hardpan...I bought my car from the original owners: the lady was crying and saying it was part of the family... If that's how you treat family, I'd rather be an orphan!Jaybird
