1991 Rivera Front Wheel Speed Sensor reproduction need?

The front wheel speed sensors for the 1991 Rivera are a 1 year application only and are out of production and I can't find any for sale. Monkey Works will reproduce these if there is enough demand for approx. $125.00 each. Considering how it is extremely difficult it is to remove one from a salvaged car without damaging it as it is a press fit that bonds over the years this is a good option. I would appreciate feedback to see if there is enough interest to have this done. Even though this failure does not disable the braking system it does disable the ABS system. The 1991 Toronado, Cadillac Seville's, Cadillac Eldorado's, and Buick Reatta's also share this part. Thanks.

Labrat,give this a try.

Go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and key in 1991 Buick Riviera and key in "hub" you will find a bunch of them. Scroll through the list starting with the cheap places first. Make sure that when you call these yards, that you want the ABS leads attached. Do a U.S. search focusing on those states that do not use salt and have moderate temperatures. That would be [for example] Ca., Wa., Id, Co., Mo, and any other states you can think of. These hubs start at $20.00 [and up] but you can buy a bunch. You may even ask the guys if they will just sell you the sensors only for the same price they sell the hub, leaving them the opportunity to still sell the hub to someone else.

Keep in mind that some sensors will not work, but you will end up ahead of spending $125.00 per lead for new. I average on my cost between $5.00 to $25.00 per lead.

I have done this for years for the sensor leads on the '88-90 Rivs/Reattas.

Thanks Dave, I found a set near my home and purchased them still in the hub. I was afraid they would damage them removing them so I bought the package. Now, what is the best way to remove them safely. I have sprayed them with penetrating solvent and will do that for a few days. Can I add heat from my Snap-On mini butane torch to help? What is the metal pin on the opposite side of the sensor. Stay away from it? What would be a good tool to pry the sensor out as I think it is a press fit. I have removed the bolts already. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Rick.

If you can't get them to come out of the hub easily, why don't you just swap the whole hub in and keep your old hub for a back up? That would be easier and you are less likely to damage the sensor.

As a matter of fact I spoke to Jim Finn on this very subject and he is thinking of selling the hubs with sensors in them rather then cutting the hubs up to get the sensors out.

Im in the UK i am currently trying to get these abs sensors made because we have to have abs working here or the car cannot be used on our roads .

How many people would be interested if i can get them out at $60 each i really want to use this seville its only done 56 k but he sensors are toast
