'50 Buick hood latch

Ever since my car had a rt front fender replacement the rt rear hood latch pops open by itself. (Late style latch). I saw advertisements for a replacement latch specifying a front location. I thought the latches were identical (Front and rear). Maybe they switched the positions causing this problem? I have everything adjusted properly but it wont hold the hood down on that side reliably now. It there a difference front and rear?

I can't speak to the specifics of your problem, but hood latches

on old cars can wear over decades of use. My own '57 Buick's

hood latches were worn and contributed, I believe, to my hood's

popping up unexpectedly more than once. It is the many rivets

and other components in the mechanism that can wear and loosen

in their openings.

Maybe I'll just try to switch them front to back first and see if that helps. The rear one is the only one that pops loose.
