Guest cwheelin
Picked up an engine (on a hoist) and I wanted to flush out the old coolant/water so my question is do I just put a garden hose to the top crossover tube or to the radiator hose water neck and just run it thru as it comes out the water pump? Never done this before (obviously not mechanically inclined) as I will have someone install the engine for me but I want to clean it up as much as I can before installation (paint, flush, etc) Thanks,Casey
Jim Cannon
You need to remove the thermostat or you will not get enough volume through the block.Other than that, you can do what you say.
RivNut
According to "Doc" on the V8Buick forum, there is a plug on each side of the block. That would be the lowest point on the block and you'd be assured that the block would be completely drained. What are your plans for descaling the crud that's built up in the water jacket? I'd like an answer to that one as well.drain plugs nailhead 401 1960Ed
