Patrick91914
I sent mine out to be gold cadnium plated based on what I saw on Tech Advisor Dick Sweeney's car. Looks sharp. Gold cad platers are getting hard to find, but Eastwood offers a three stage paint that will get you pretty close to the real thing. I will post a pic later today. JZRIV
I would have guessed gray phosphate but I don't know the 1st gens. 66 was gray phosphate. Can someone else confirm if they were gold cad in 65? Gold cad has superior corrosion resistance vs gray phosphate which was a very cheap finish. Kevin,When you remove one of the mounting bolts on the hinge, look at the finish under the bolt/washer. Typically there will still be enough evidence to determine what they were originally. For example to show you what I am referencing, take a look at this ebay listing with high res pics. You can see the original finish where the bolt was. 63 64 65 Buick Riviera Hood Hinges Very Nice Set Work Great 1963 1964 1965 | eBay Edited October 11, 2012 by JZRIV (see edit history)
