Gwood
Does anyone have knowledge on what torque specs. would be for a 49 coronet? My book does not say anything about it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, GlennThis is the nut that holds on the brake drum-anyone? Machinist_Bill
I'm guessing your are refering to the front wheel bearing pre-load. There are probably 50 ways to do this but this works for me.Tighten the castle nut until it's snugged up then back off a quarter turn. Insert your cotter pin to the nearest hole.Definition of "Snuuged Up": Use a wrench to snug up by holding it near the jaw instead of the tail. Practice with this so you will get the correct "feel". Too tight and you will burn up a bearing. Too loose and you will wear the bearing unevenly. The reason for pre-load is to spread the load evenly and yet enough clearance for lubrication. ply33
I'm guessing your are refering to the front wheel bearing pre-load.In the other forum where this question was asked the assumption was that it was for the rear axle hub nut which, at least for Plymouth of that same year, is 142 ft-lbs min. From the responses on that thread apparently Dodge was the same which wouldn't be too surprising.
