Guest Johns49
Hello all,I am posting in regards to my 1949 Desoto Carry-All Sedan. This spring I attempted to take it for a drive down the street. I got in and started it up no problem. As I attempted to take it down the road it seemed like it was just spinning but was moving slowly and acted like it wanted to hardly go down the road in gear. By the time I got to the end of the street the temperature gage was up and started to over heat on me. It has the fluid drive transmission in it and have had no problems before and the car ran fine all last year. I'm thinking it could be low on fluid. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
61polara
You're thoughts may be right, check the fluid in the coupling. Also, did you have the parking brake on or are the brakes not releasing?
Rusty_OToole
Operating and servicing the Fluid Drive and transmission have been covered in depth. Do a search for Fluid Drive in the Chrysler section, you will turn up much food for thought. There were a couple of threads in 2008 that covered the subject in depth. Guest Johns49
Hi Dave, I usually keep the parking brake on when I am not driving it, but always check it to make sure it is released when i do go to drive it. But thank you i will definitely check the fluid.
