Guest SalG (Sal Grenci)
Hemmings Motor News, a monthly magazine for car enthusiasts, agreed to be bought by American City Business Journals, whose chairman and chief executive is himself a car hobbyist who buys parts using the magazine's classified ads. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hemmings Motor News has 210,000 subscribers paying $28.95 a year for 700 to 800 pages of ads each month about antique, classic and vintage cars. American City's chief executive, Ray Shaw, said he had bought parts for his 1954 Chevy, 1932 Ford and 1956 Ford pickup truck through Hemmings Motor News, which he discovered a little more than a decade ago when he began collecting old cars. Hemmings, which also publishes more niche-oriented auto publications, has about 115 employees and will continue to be based in Bennington, Vt. American City, a unit of Advance Publications, is based on Staten Island. (Reuters) From The New York Times Saturday, April 13, 2002.
BlackStar
Gee, I hope it remains in our great town of Bennington. It is such an asset to our area, and would be sorely missed.
1937hd45
I agree, it should stay in Vermont.
fordee9r (Ron Springstead)
The story in my morning paper only stated that "Hemmings" was purchased by the publisher.... no mention of an individual interest. The article did state that all operations would stay in Bennington.
