414TATA
Went to a great car show today and while waiting in the entry line at idle (about 20 minutes) my Buick started to smoke bad (grey) as in oil burning. It didn't have the problem on the way home about 15 miles of stop and go. :smoke was little to noneThis is the first time my car has done this. I know this usually means rings but as stated it didn't smoke during normal driving.:confused:Opinions. ThanksBuy the way there were about 300 cars at the show. Ben Bruce aka First Born
Wayne, that is a nice '41. Oil smoke, in my experience, is more blue. Grey to black I think would be more excess fuel. Perhaps carb was just "loading up " the intake with a little too much gas, for whatever reason. Ben
Guest Grant Magrath
Yep! What Ben says. Smoke is blue/grey. You would have to give it heaps of throttle to see any blue if the rings were starting to wear. The other option is worn valve guides, but that would be obvious on startup as well.CheersGrant
