Early Dodge year ID

<HR SIZE=1>Firstly may I say hello to fellow members as I am new to this site.

My question is could someone tell me the date of an early Dodge Brothers coupe (that is in sad condition).

I can not find a number on the chassis cross bar? under where the floor would have been, but there is a number stamped on the fire wall it appears to be 05788. The engine number is 842-444.

Any help to ID would be appreciated, also is there an internet site that would show pictures of what it would have looked like?

Thank you, Ronald (Australia).

PS Would the body be Australian made?

Ronald...does your engine # start with a "C"? as in C 842-444.

Mine is C 842-314 ,serial #A 770913 built about 9-11-26. The firewall # is the body #. I have a Budd Body...#20404. I assume yours would be quite different if the body was Australian built. The serial # would be on the toe board plate (would be missing if your floor boards are gone?). It would also be stamped on the right side of the frame just back of the front spring rear mounting bracket.

I had assumed it did not start with a C as he did not indicate this but that is a good question. If it does than dis-reagrd the info I have given you and listen to one of these 4 cyl guys Ronald

:) Thank you, Texacola, 1930 and Bob.

Your help is appreciated. There are no letters in front of the engine number, the foor boards are gone but I will see if I can find a number behind the spring mounting bracket.

Am I right to think that the US built Dodge body from 1922 onwards is all steel, mine has some wood in the doors so it makes me think its Aussie built.

If the engine is Jan 1923 is it fair to think the Dodge would have existed or have been made late 1922?

Thank you for the picture, that is what it would have once looked like. A great looking car in my opinion.

Regards ultralight.
