Guest Sam Kern
I have an original 1942/1943 Pennsylvania state inspection sticker on a 5" X 6" portion of the original glass I would like to transfer to the new windshield. A few years ago I tried soaking it in water for a day which didn't work. The paper got very soft and mushy, resulting in a small portion of one of the upper corners being damaged. The problem probably is getting a solvent to the adhesive: the backside of the paper has a silver coating that may be acting as a barrier. As an aside, I was able to successfully remove the "A" ration stamp and the $5.00 tax stamp from the original windshield. Any ideas?
gofasttoday
Try Windex window cleaner that's how we remove the new ones.
Restorer32
Try the stuff that stamp collectors use to remove collectible stamps from envelopes. Works extremely well and does no harm.
Ron Green
I have an original PA inspection sticker on my 55 and bet it would be impossible to get off without ruining it or severely damaging it. I have been told dry ice may work to remove them but I doubt it. Unsure if a heat gun on the glass would work since the glue is on the front of the sticker.Worst case if you ruin it buy an exact reproduction:www.inspectionsticker.net<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
