Jim Anselmo
Last night I watched a TV program from 1961 on Netflix called "Merrily We Roll Along: The Early Days of the Automobile". It was produced by NBC and narrated by Groucho Marx. There is about 3 minutes worth of video (starting at 31:49) that show a DB (I think 1917 or so) plowing through the mud and muck on its way to an oil field. In fact on the side of the car is painted "Oil Field Dodge". This clip is a testimate to the durability of the DB. The whole video has great shots of early automobiling. Here are a couple of pictures from the video.
nearchoclatetown
Jim, the AACA and I believe DBC both sell the dvd. They sure abuse the DB's in it, but never credit the name.
Steve Suttle
I've seen this as well.Lots of great footage of DB and other makes.Highly recommended. It is an interesting compilation as the clip mentioned here is probably a DB promotion film, but many scenes are taken from silent films of the time. Also, there is one recreation involving Model Ts that was obviously shot for the production c. 1960, showing a couple of AACA of MTFCA pioneers and their wives. In the last scene, Groucho is driving a new Chevrolet Impala convertible on an LA freeway. It may be the highest currently valued car in the whole show!
