Evolution of Automotive Design 1903-2012

The Columbus Museum of Art's (480 E. Broad St., Columbus, OHIO) Evolution of Automotive Design will consist of 14 Ford vehicles (from a 1903 Model A to a 2012 Taurus) to show the evolution of Ford design. The show is Sunday, September 18th from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The display will be held RAIN OR SHINE in the parking lot behind the museum.

In conjunction with the Evolution display, there will also be a Classic Car Show from 10:00am - 2:00pm and is open to ALL makes and types of vehicles and the entrance fee is $20.00 (which includes two admission tickets to the event). Please arrive around 9:30am if you want to show your car.

This display is part of the Museum's 2nd annual Art, Design, and Antique Market which is running all weekend from 10am-5pm. General admission without a car displayed in the show is $10.00 per adult.

I would not think 14 Ford designs from 108 years would be very inclusive. I would think it would at least need a 1903 Model A, a K model, something from the N, R, and S models, then a T model and another A model, an early and late prewar V-8, a shoebox model, something from the wrap-around windshield group, a 2-passenger T-Bird, a Square- Bird, a Bird from the mid 1990's, and the last edition of the Bird in the 2000's, not to mention a mid-size Fairlane/Torino, an Escort, and a Mustang from each of it's 5 decades. Even this list is not all-inclusive. I made no mention of the Ford woodies from the 1940's and there are probably other distinctions I have missed.

It is hard to think of Ford evolution in terms of only 14 designs. You have come up with a pretty decent list which some people might think is not inclusive enough. The idea of an evolution is very ambitious, especially with a company that has been producing vehicles of many types for well over a hundred years.

I find it interesting to hear about "Classic Car Shows" that are open to all makes and types of vehicles.

IMHO, It's like finding a book about Classic Cars and the cars are muscle cars and family cars built in the 1950's-1990's. Don't need books about Classic Cars written by someone that doesn't know what a Classic Car is.
