  3. I'm hoping to identify a recent find, and I think you all might be just the experts I need. I was metal detecting at a friend's house that dates back to the late 1790's and found what looked like a coin about 10 inches down in the front yard. It turns out to be a coin-like piece with the image of a driver on one side and a very old car on the other. The disk is about 1.25 inches in diameter. I could not make out any text or traces of text, not even with a magnifying glass. On close inspection, the top appears to have two wide-set nubs as if there had been a loop at one time. It's the lower of a three medallion watch fob that dates back to the early 1900's. Can anyone help ID the date? manufacture? tire/wing logo?

  7. The illustrator and artist Dean Cornwell (1892-1960) painted the four sections of a mural at the International Labor Office (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The mural was donated to the ILO by the American Federation of Labor, and includes an amazing representation of different manual and other jobs in the USA. Cornwell started his ILO murals in 1938, but World War II meant he did not finisth them until 1955. One of the section includes workers in a car assembly line with part of a yellow car, as well as another worker on an engine. The detail can be viewed in the brochure published at http://www.wto.org/english/res_e/booksp_e/wto_building08_e.pdf (page 25). Does anyone know the maker and model of this car? Thank you very much indeed. E. Murray Geneva, Switzerland <!--EndFragment-->
