Aussie Dodge
Hi Guys, has anyone had any experience with rectifing worn valve guides in a 25 dodge block. I am fitting a new set of valves which are the standard size of 3/8 diameter and a couple of guides are badly worn. I have had some suggestions of boring out the old guides to around 1/2 diameter and fitting a sleeve like a K- liner, however from what I have been able to determine, K -liners are only avaiable up to aroung 2.6 inches in length and the original valve guides are 4 inches long. I am happy to get something made if this the best way to go, or is there something similar off the shelf? I have heard that bronze alloy's make a terrific valve guide with good lube and heat transfer charteristics. Any suggestions?Regards - Aussie Dodge
MikeC5
I should think it would be pretty easy to source some bronze and have valve guides turned (machined on lathe). You need to research what sort of interference fit is required for bronze guides in cast iron (I have data for bronze guides in aluminum). You may also have to heat up the block in order to install them. Please let us know what you end up doing.
dwollam
Why not just buy some correct ones? I am sure ROMAR has them, also Egge. That's what I did.

MikeC5
My bad. I didn't remember seeing them in the Romar catalog.
