MikeC5
I'm going to get my radiator shell re-chromed (I know original is nickel) and it was suggested I remove the DB badge. It appears to be an interference fit into the hole on the shell or is it soldered in? Anyone know the best way to gently remove it?
Guest M R Simpers
I asked this same question about a year ago, and at the time I said, "no hammer jokes."Well, that is the way to gently remove it.On the back of the emblem there is a 3 arm spring steel tab that is welded to the emblem. It pinches against lipped hole in the radiator shell. Get a wood dowel and gently hammer the emblem off.Once you get it off, make sure you get the rust off the tab as it is very prone to rusting.M.R. TonyAus
I think the three arm fixing is later than 1925. Yours is likely to have a cup soldered to the badge which, as you say, is an interference fit in the hole. Removal procedure is the same - carefully tap out from the back with a suitably soft drift.
