kdml
When I pulled the front drivers side spring from my '65 Riv there was an 1/8 inch shim between the spring and the insulator. There was not a comparable shim on the passanger side. Is this factory, as I can't find it in any of the service manual diagrams?ThanksDoug
1965rivgs
Yes, it is factory. Used to obtain proper ride height. If you are replacing springs you will most likely not need it but dont dispose of it until you are satisfied the ride height is the same left to right. JZRIV
Doug,My 66 had the exact shim on driver side. I was surprised to see it because prior to that I had no idea they existed.
kdml
Maybe the Buick engineers figured the drivers side would always have an occupant, so they added the shim to level out the car. Can't imagine the 1/8" would make a difference, but who knowsThanks
