Hey Reatta folks: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have come across a 1988 Reatta with 59,000mi one owner. Has the smaller Reatta emblem on the hood, VERY clean motor, has the larger color sunburst on the horn built 7/1988 all numbers match and no accidents. I have been looking for a very nice condition 89 or a 91 but just came across this 88 which I was not considering BUT…..

The Reatta has been well taken care of until the previous owner passed and has been outside for the previous 2 years about.... Needs WAX BAD, but the paint is currently in good condition but without major quick help will be shot in a few months and the rear pinstripe is beginning to wear off, the seals around the windows and doors are all fine with NO sun damage yet... the head liner is beginning to fall, the rear light shield needs to be plastic polished, the battery is dead so I could not start it up... will try again this week, the clear coat on the rims are peeling, the instrument cluster seems loose ( how would I tighten it?) no 16 way power seats, all the electric buttons for glove box / trunk / gas/headlights seem to work, the headlights need to be rebuilt for sure and tires are dryrottted, rear trunk keyhole is coming apart, original floor mats in very nice condition, leather is in very nice condition, NO moon roof.....what would be a fair price?.... I believe the current price is too high but wonder what the general consensus is here so not to insult the current owner and still be fare ( I will let ya’ll know what I was quoted after a few responses).

Thanks All.

Well; Since there has not been any response on the 88 Reatta question.., the asking price was $4800.00 but from what I could determine…negotiable.... anyone interested? The right thing to do is it make all the kind Reatta folks here aware of what I consider a "great find", I was very seriously considering it myself but decided to wait for that 1989 or 1991 cherry red somewhere out there one day.

PM me and I can send you the phone number of the owner (I don’t think it would be wise to post it public), sorry I did not take any pictures while I was there, I can later today if the rains lets up or on Saturday but it is in VERY good condition in your interested, just been sitting for a while with the before mentioned observations...

Price is high for a car that does not run, when I check one out I usually carry both a big jump box (HF 96157) and an Optima 75/25 (size I use for everything).

"blem wit" is that not running you cannot check the displays, ABS, engine, transmission, or a/c and must assume all are bad. Repair could total more than the asking price. Good interior/paint/glass is a big plus but repairable.

Am a bit strange in that I spend more time under a car than above but one important thing is the condition of the insulation on the ABS wheel sensors as they have become "unobtainium".

Padgett: I was inside the car a few days ago and tried the key but the battery was dead…. The interior is very nice…. The mechanic that is now selling the car (his late uncle's… I believe his mom’s brother) said the Reatta was running perfectly... I checked out the motor and is was spotless yet as you said I could not turn it over to check out the screen and the ABS etc. I said I would come back after he recharged the battery but I haven’t made it back yet. I will go now and see if I can't take a few pictures and post back.

Here are some pictures I just snapped...Since it is Easter Sunday the shop is closed and the doors were locked so I tried to take some pictures of the interior through the window, if you can't tell the leather is in very very good condition and the doors even still have the clips on each side of the door pull strap... also see how the rear window seals are in next to new condition. I just hate to see this Reatta sitting in the sun day after day now.....
