GE Dictator 1928
I am having my car worked on and was suprised to see that my Stromberg UX-2 has a pot metal body. It is being cleaned now to see if there are any problems. If there are, has anyone ventured into making new bodies?

Guest Mike Hawkins
The problem with the old pot metal is that it is very porous. I was luckywith My Stromberg UX-2 because it was not warped and only had minor cracks. After dismantling and cleaning I coated the entire body with super glue -- may sound crazy (crazy glue) but it actually worked very well. Super glue is impervious to gasoline and alcohol, it seals cracks very well, forming a hard, air tight protective seal. If you want to try it, use nitrile gloves -- I found that the glue does not stick to them. Put a few drops on and spread it around quickly with your finger. It leaves a nice clear finish that does not have to be painted.
GE Dictator 1928
Mike,Interesting method. My UX-2 is going to a rebuilder to be looked at. The only crack I can see is on a casting edge where the throat meets the body. There is some minimal cracking there. Otherwise it seems good.
