MikeC5
Should the float bowl lid have a gasket? The gasket kit I bought didn't have one. It would seem like there should be one there.
carbking
No, no gasket used on the float bowl top. If fact, most of the Stewart carbs have a small ident cut out of the top of the bowl for a vent. Going from memory, maybe 1/4 inch wide by a 1/16 deep. The bowl must vent for fuel to move in/out of the bowl. While some will argue that the vent was in the center over the fuel needle, most have a dust cover (normally removed so the owner could push down on the fuel needle to stop a leak) which was supposed to cover the needle.Jon. MikeC5
Thanks Carbking. Makes sense. I'll check the vent.
carbking
Memory was faulty, the vent slot is only about an 1/8 inch wide, rather than a 1/4 inch. Jon.
