1955 Bumperettes and Dagmars

RANDY, this is way before my time but you got me curious - where did the name "Dagmar" come from, in relation to the big bullet-shaped bumper tips on Buicks and Cadillacs? Turns out, it was the TV stage name of actress Virginia Ruth Egnor, who had a comedy show in the early '50s. She played a dumb but crafty blonde and had remarkable bumpers of her own.

Shortly after I got my 55 done I tracked Ms Egner's address down and wrote her a letter requesting an autographed picture. I didn't mention the bumper connection. Regretfully she never answered my letter and has since died.................Bob
