401 is the engine plant shift number. These numbers progress as the year progresses and are loosely tied to the production date of the car. But in your case, since the engine is NOM, it doesn`t matter. The stamping could be any 425.

So I guess it was just sheer coincidence, as RivNut said, that is was stamped 401?
