Guest shmoeco
My driver side headlight went out the other day in my 89, and I went today and bought a new headlight. I am having trouble unplugging the headlight though. I can not seem to figure out how to get it out. Some of it may be that its about 20 degrees here in Michigan so it has been a little hard trying to do it outdoors, but I can not even seem to start to get it unplugged. Any tips? Ronnie
I think this is what you are asking about.....Raise the headlight doors.Remove the screws holding the black headlight shield and remove the shield. See photo number 1Remove the 4 screws from the chrome surround that holds the lamp in place. See photo number 2Unplug the electrical connectorChange out the lampReverse the procedure to put it all back together.__________________ Edited January 14, 2011 by Ronnie Updated photos (see edit history)
Guest NEMO
It helps to spray some rust buster on the screws that hold the head lamp on. Loosen and tighten the screws so the lube get on the threads. And always use the PROPER fitting screwdriver to keep it from slipping, applying a good amount of force to keep the screw driver in the screw slots. This is to prevent the damage to the screws. johnemac
Sometimes there is heat involved in the wiring and the plastic socket melts slightly and forms around the prongs. Careful prying advised.
NCReatta
My advice: Wear gloves. even if they're just gardening gloves Too many sharp objects in there. Hurts your hands pretty bad.
