brake light indicator

Hi everyone need some help: What are the brake light indicators called that are located at the rear of the headliner above the rear window on a 1983 buick prk ave 4 door the indicators work when the brakes are applied. For the life of me I don't know. Thank you in advance for the help!!

They are just fiber optic cables that allow you to see if a brake light is burned out. The fiber optic uses the brake lights for illumination, so if a bulb is burned out, the fiber doesn't light up.

This indicator is part of the 'Fiber Optic Lamp Monitor' option. On the Park Avenue, it may have been standard equipment. Two fiber optic cables with polished ends 'transmit' the light in each rear lamp housing. The other ends terminate into red lens in that little housing at the rear of the roof.
