Dwight Romberger Posted October 15, 2010 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Hi All, I have stock 1948 chevy pickup front brake assemblies. I plan to drive this truck alot. What should I do to make sure it will be safe? ( I'm installing new brake lines and master cylinder) The brake shoes and linings look like new. Should I replace all the springs and other little parts along with a new wheel cylinder? Are there any possible upgrades I should know about? I don't want to do anything visable that would take away from the original look of the front end.Thanks so much. Guest Silverghost Posted October 15, 2010 Share Posted October 15, 2010 I would add all new spring hardware, wheel cylinders, hoses & lines etc.They are easy to get ; and not costly ! junkyardjeff Posted October 19, 2010 Share Posted October 19, 2010 50 or 51 and up bendix style brakes are a improvement of the huck style brakes that are on it now,I just happen to have a set that were to go on my 37 p/u but went to disc brakes instead.
