vergil
The original needle seat seal on my '16 finally wore through. I replaced it with a new one but still can't stop gas coming out the top when the car is at rest. As long as the motor is running it seems fine. I've tried raising the seat but then the float has little room to function. Should there be a gasket or sealant to prevent the overfow? or am I missing somethng else? Thanks!Sure wish I were going to join some of you at Keizer but my plans fell through.
Guest Jack 27
One solution is to adapt a modern Viton seat to the end of the float needle.
Guest 1930
I have heard from guys that have used these viton tips that they are no good. They say that eventually the fuel will break down the material, soften it and eventually it will come apart and you will have a mess. They went back to steel needles and only recommend these. Knowing where that info came from I lean toward believing it myself.
dwollam
Are you running the stock vacuum tank or an electric pump? Most DB 4cyl carbs won't stand the presure of an electric pump, as the vacuum tank system is just gravity feed.
vergil
I have the stock vacuum fuel tank. I am in the process of rebuilding the carburetor now. I should have it in early next week. Happy Keizering!
