Idle too high

So, maybe the ECM thinks the engine is cold, or something? There's only one coolant temp sensor, right? And, if the gauge shows over 160F, I don't see why the ECM would be in the "normal step up" mode, especially after driving for more than 20 minutes.

Brent, you have done a lot of work on this problem. I believe it would be worth investigating the power steering switch and circuit to see if it might be causing the problem.

The ECM monitors that circuit and when it detects a higher than normal load it will increase the IAC opening to compensate for the increased load on the engine to maintain proper idle speed. You might be able to see the data from the power steering switch in the diagnostics but I don't know for sure.

Brent, wondering if the new tps corrected the idle problem?

Stated like a up-date: After installing the used tps iI have had no problem with the idle staying around 625 to 650 with the ac on in drive. With no ac on the idle staying the same.

Hope it works for you. Let me know.

Thanks Larry
