Guest Dodge Deluxe
Does anyone know what the correct valve stem caps would be for a 1939 Dodge Deluxe Sedan? I have the standard black plastic ones, I also have a set of black metal caps with a hex nut shape to them, I have a set of reproduction Red Crown gas station valve stem caps, and lastly a set of the stainless valve stem tool caps that have the notch for removing the guts. Which ones would be most accurate and appropriate for 1939? Dan
nearchoclatetown
Dan, one of the few AACA rules that is clear says plastic caps were NOT used until 1951. The red crowns are not acceptable on any car to be judged, doesn't say whne they avavilable. I'm making a guess, but I'd think the plain metal caps would be most correct, the ones with the valve tool were aftermarket.
keiser31
I believe that the caps for that car would be the steel or stainless caps with a small bump on top and no notch for valve stem removal.
