Guest vwdubb
Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to run a Buick LuCerne CXL wheel and tire on my 90 reatta? The LuCerne tire is a 235/55R17 and I believe the stock size is 215/65R15. Any thoughts, problems I may encounter or experience would be grealy appreciated. Thanks for your help everyone! olbuickman
Mike, I have been running the Lucerne wheels and tires on my 1990 Reatta convertible. I used a 1" spacer on my front wheels in order to clear the shock towers. The backs were ok. Frank
Barney Eaton
You can play with the tire dimensions at www.powerdog.comThat site indicates that the 235x55r17 would be 1 in taller and there is only about 1/2 inch clearance between the tread and spring support. If that were not a problem, your speedometer would be off by about 4%A better choice would be 235x50r17 which turn out to be almost exactly the same diameter as the originals. olbuickman
Barney, you are right on picking the 235 50 series rather than the 235 55 series tires. When I bought mine they were part of a takeoff from a 2007 Lucerne,so I didn't have a choice. I would have preferred not to have to use the front spacers, Frank
