donalde1
How do I determine tire size for a 1922 buick 4 cyl. when I've only got the rims?
Mark Shaw
Depending on which model you have, your tires will be 4" or 4.5". Double it and add the rim diameter to arrive at your tire size.
donalde1
Thanks, Mark. I have a 1922 touring model (at least thats what the limited body components reflect). Rim diameter is 24 1/4" inclusive of rim bead. Rim width is 3 1/2" again including rim beads. Actual flat surface of the rim perimeter is 2 1/2". So based on these measurements my tire size would either be 4 X 32 1/4 or 4 1/2 X 33 1/4? Is that correct?
Mark Shaw
Without the fractions it looks right. If you tell me what model you have, I can look up the tire size.
jbbuick22
I think your rim size is 23" but I will check the parts manual for the correct size tire and rim when I get home tonight, 31x4 might be right. The 4 cyl uses a smaller rim and tire than the 6cyl. JB22-6-55 Sport Touring
Mark Shaw
My guess is 31 X 4 for a 4 cylinder car with a 109" wheel base.
jbbuick22
The parts manual gives 31x4 as the correct tire size for a 4 cyl car. The rim is 23". JB
