Could any of you guys please give me any contacts of people in the USA who may be able to help me with this. Has anyone had such work done? what would it cost? Many ThanksDean - United Kingdom
Mark Shaw
There are several speedo repair shops around the country. Several advertise in Hemmings Motor News & you can pick up a copy at most good newstands & book stores. Although you didn't mention what the symtoms are, most speedo issues are with the cable drive. Graphite lubricant sometimes is all that is needed to get a jumpy speedo working smoothly again. If it doesn't work at all, you might check to see if the drive cable end is broken or worn. These are easily replaced with a new one. You can more easily remove the cable from the tube at the transmission end rather than from under the dash. critterpainter
Mark I spoke with the gentleman this AM and suggested he try this forum for a solution for his problem. His needle does jump through a 5-10 mph range although I do not know if it is accurate except for the wiggly needle. From my limited experience I have found that even when lubricated an old speedo will need to be re-calibrated to be accurate.Bill
