seating new exhaust valves on a 28 fast four??

does any one know if its possible to seat new valves on a 28 fast four engine without grinding them on a machine?i was told thats the way they used to do it with a valve lapping suction tool and valve grinding compound .i guess the same process as lapping them in ?? the valves are new!!

Would really depend on the condition of the seats but sure, I have done that, on a "used" engine.

It would not only depend on the seats but also the condition of the valve faces , i have both the valve facing , and valve seating tools from the late 20's 30's? . they are vintage but still do the job they are designed for . for final finish i still use valve grinding paste and a lapping tool to get the final result . if the seats and valve faces are not to pitted you could just face them in with the paste and not worry about the machine facing
