Help 57 Special or roadmaster

I have a 1957 buick vin 4D5004940 how do I tell what it is Special or roadmaster?

The model number should be on the plate attached to the top of the firewall. 40 series = special, 60 Series = Century, 50 series = super, and 70 Series = Roadmaster. this number may be a combination of 2 numbers + a letter but the 2 numbers tell the model line. That letter would refer to certain models within the line.

Let us know what you have, we should be able to id it.

On the VIN the 4 stands for 40 Series (Special) and the D stands for 1957 (fourth year in the all nailhead series - A is 1954, B is 1955, C is 1956, D is 1957, E is 1958, etc

Thanks just couldn't get it. Now to find parts. Got it running today new points and plugs. On jack stands getting new tires so I don't have to keep pumping them up.
