Could you please rephrase the question or give more detials? I'm not sure I understand what you are asking.

If you are replacing the TPS, adjust it so it looks close to the old one, install it and drive the car. It will adjust itself. You idle may be ruff for a few minutes. But it will settle down.

I'm just feeling dumb today: What's a TPS, and what does it do?

I'm guessing Throttle Position Sensor. The little thing held in place by 2 stainless steel screws locate next to the throttle body on your intake manifold. It helps read the air/fuel mix. It can get gunked up. I just pulled mine and cleaned it with carb cleaner. I then did the seafoam thru the vaccum hose trick to clean the rest of the plenum.

Tom, I am wrong and CHAS1 is right. Now I don't know where it is. I still believe it to be the Throttle Position Sensor

If you have an '88 or '89, go into diagnostic mode and ECM data an look at the voltage that is displayed for the TPS. There is a specified voltage range that it should read in the idle posistion. Believe it's .23 to around .38 volts or so. Check the service manual. Just loosen the two screws slightly and rotate back and forth till the reading is in the zone. If you have a later model I guess you should use a digital volt meter to set it up correctly.

my mistake should have read replace, instead of replay. i did replace TPS the code is gone,but i am getting poor gas milage, and no e code.
