BadgerRivFan
The dash in my convertible is getting pretty faded due to sun damage. Last year in our welcome kits at the Asheville meet, there was some information about a recoloring kit called "Fade Away" from Just Dashes in California. Has anyone had any experience with this product/company? Here's a link to the product on their web site...http://www.justdashes.com/FadeAway.htmYour comments, feedback, experiences would be appreciated. RivNut
Al,I used to work for a company here in KC called "Dr. Vinyl & Assoc. - Plastic Surgery and other cosmetic operations." We used to recolor dashes using vinyl dyes mixed just like auto paints. It was basically a lacquer paint with a flex agent in it. Your local auto paint supply store can fix you up with a single can of the color you need. The other things in the kit can be purchased separately. Grease remover (acetone) and some 400 grit wet-or-dri sandpaper to get rid of any edges. Many light coats are better than one or two heavy ones. If you can find some of the old "Topper" water based vinyl dyes (they'd be left overs, they're not made anymore) you can do the same quality restoration using a foam brush, and applying a number of light coats. To me, this "kit" seems like you'd be purchasing a whole bunch of stuff you don't need. Something you do want to check out if you're redoing any leather, is the product on this websitehttp://www.leatherique.com/Ed
