dnt
I am getting an E046 power steering pressure switch fault. It is my understanding that said switch is connected to the high pressure tube in the power steering system and, when a power steering load is detected, it signals the ECM. The ECM then adjusts the idle speed for the increased load. My question is, could a defect in that switch cause the ECM to keep the idle higher than normal when the car is brought to an idle stop? jonlabree
It makes sense to me. If it was shorted or grounded it might just do that.
dnt
Anybody know WHERE, exactly, the power steering pressure switch is located? I have looked all down the power steeringl line and see nothing.

Roadster90
When these switches are replaced is there any type of "bleeding" necessary please ... or just screw out and screw in ?Thanks
Ronnie
I believe I read the way to bleed the PS is to jack the car up in front to take the weight off the suspension and slowly turn the wheel from lock to lock several times without forcing it at the outer limits. No need to crack any lines or anything.
