wenthur
My 24 touring has brass bevels and I have never seen them before, Is this that the chrome been polished off, if this is the case I would like to polish off chrome on my fuel truck. aLove the look. or do I have to have them brass plated? Brass seems so much elegant than chrome. Any Ideas will be appreciated.
nearchoclatetown
Wenthur, the bezels are made of brass and nickle plated. I don't think they used chrome until about '28 on anything. I've RUBBED off the nickle with rubbing or polishing compound on some parts.
wenthur
So If I buff hard enough and long enough, I should get brass bevels for the fuel truck headlights, I wounder if I buffed off nickel on radiator shroud if I would end up with brass also. Nothing to loss it needs plating if I can't have brass
nearchoclatetown
I think your radiator shell is steel, stick a magnet on it.
wenthur
Put magnet on radiator shell and headlight bevels, and both are steel. So it is new chrome or painted black. I'm inclined for the new chrome.
Jan Arnett
Why not nickle instead of chrome. I have a 1916 ford and it has a brass radiator, 24 Star and it has a nickle shell, 1923 Moon and it is German silver and a 23 Dodge and it is painted black. I only have one car with a chrome shell (30 buick) and it is the most garish of the bunch. Chrome can be very hard looking with Nickle much softer. The shop that does chrome should be able to do nickle. Happy New Year.
