Rooster
There has been some discussion around here as to this device under the dynaflow. Some say it is an oil cooler , others reckon it's a heater ?
Jim Cannon
It is hard for me to tell from that exact picture, but I know my '50 Special with Dynaflow had a transmission cooler on it with heater hoses that ran back to it like this. The Dynaflow does not need to get warmed up, it needs to have heat pulled out.

Guest imported_JPIndusi
Definitely a Dynaflow transmission cooler. Mine on the 53 Special is mounted on the side of the transmission. This one looks like it is below the rear mount or thrust pad.An interesting bit of trivia. In 1953 the GM Hydramatic plant burned down and Dynaflow transmissions were put in some Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles. The water pumps on these cars were modified to provide the pipe nipples for hoses to run back to these Dynaflow transmissions.Joe, BCA 33493
