FS-64 kx motor

Recommended Posts

i have a 1964 425 KX block out of a 64 riv (7K serial#)

it has been rebuilt about 3 years ago and has 5-6000 miles on the rebuild.engine was bored .30 over crank was turned .10 under both carb were just rebuilt(havent even tuned them yet)

now the bad part

the motor has a spun bearing(sp)has a high pitch squeal

so instead of fixing it i am parting it out.

(i dont have the time or money to keep throwing in this car)

you can have the whole engine or just the parts off it for $2500.00

that includes the factory breather and a custom one,

the only thing missing is the kick down bracket

(i was running a 4-speed so i didnt need one)

i was going to keep all the 4-speed parts together and sell as a 99% complete setup but with what my parts are bringing i dont know what i am going to do.

my complete grill brought $21.00 nos taillight lenses $5.05

dash pad $1.00.

i think i would be better off throwing the parts away

yep i am totally 100% disgusted

cant even find a bodyshop to work on my 70 wildcat

they ethier dont work on old cars or wont respond to my pms or e-mails i think i will sign off for now its been real folks but im out

It's frustrating but just take a break or do some work yourself. If you really love the hobby invest in a garage (space to work) and chip away at it.

There are some things I can't do, upholstery for instance but do as much as i can - and you can.

As for prices, I think potential buyers on ebay are being careful because of shipment pricing. ebay should be about bargains as well. Too many people are believing it's a gold mine. Most of what is on ebay on Reserve does not sell. But ebay still gets the listing fees.

Shipping a dash pad can cost $50 to $60. USPS, UPS, whatever, prices are considered part of the purchase, so sellers must get less for the buyer to feel he has a good price.

Don't be discouraged. The Wildcat can be restored. Think about guys restoring cars from the 1920's. They sometimes have to fabricate their own parts.

( I have a two car garage already and this car is taking up most of the room in it,and i do ALL MY OWN MECHANIC work already.but after spending $3500.00 rebuilding the engine and transmission just to spin a bearing and need to do the engine again,it just aint worth it. i thought i would cut my losses and get enough out of the parts paint my 70 wildcat but nope..............)

the last dual quad that i seen sold.... intake and carb(1200.00)breather (730.00)valve covers (430.00)for a total of 2360.00 mine included the dist, coil, new fuel lines, linkages, and a custom breather.....

opening bid of 2300.00 no bids.(and i just spent over $400.00 having the carbs rebuilt.)

shipping a 64 wildcat dash pad was only 14.00 (they aint that big)

sorry for ranting but come on

should i try to sell the transmission(since they are sooo plentyfull and easy to find)oh yea they have to be cheap because of shipping......
