rhb1999
Has anyone used the "Viton" brand rear main seals, to replace the rope type seals with any success? Are they good seals? BOP engineering says they are engineered from the ground up and are not retrofitted seals from other engines and are a direct replacement for rope seals. I once used a Fel-Pro rope seal replacement rubber seal in a 231 V6 that originaly had a rope seal and it still leaked. I suppose this may have been a retrofitted seal for another engine. Funny thing, the instructions that came with it said "it might not work and could still leak". Thanks

Guest Greg Gessler
i carry rear main seals for the Buick 400/430/455. they are a dropin style that dont require seal modifications like some of the older style. And they work great.Part # GHP-7720http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/members/gesslerheadporting/ghp.nsf/822dcaaaa26c6da985256dd80023623d/2760b555140468a78525706f001aaf19!OpenDocument
