TheMoneyPit
OK, the picture is of the horse, but the small curb pump at the left side has a tag reading that it was made for the "Texas Oil Company" and I think could be one of the oldest Texaco gas pumps around. It is hand operated like a bicycle pump and looks like it were made as a bilge pump for a boat. I'll be able to get better pictures sometime next week if you want to see it in better detail. Please ask your historian friend about this one...
Jonas419
I've never seen the Pegasus associated with our brand, but I will send this off right away. Thanks for sending it. What a great piece!
West Peterson
The pegasus is from Stanard Oil Company of New York, otherwise known as Socony, or Mobiloil, or just Mobil... now, Exxon-Mobil.
TheMoneyPit
I know the horse is Mobil, I was trying to show the pump next to it which is marked Texaco. That is the only picture I have that caught a corner of the tag. I've not had time to take better pictures of the pump but will try to do it this weekend. Jonas419
Sorry for the delay in my response. Check out the attached photo of a Wilson Bennett Long Distance. Looks just like it! Our historian found it at http://www.vintagegas.com/cgi-bin/emAlbum.cgi?c=show_image;p=Pumps/Pre-Visible%20Pumps;i=30;img=Wilson%20Bennett%20Long%20Distance.jpg
TheMoneyPit
Jonas,That pump is not too far off from what mine looks like. Here are the better pictures I promised. The tag reads "Made For The Texas Oil Company" and has the underwriters lab tag underneath.
old gto
<span style="color: #3333FF">Beautiful pump! Does the tag say who the manufaturer is? Regardles, it looks like many of the 1912-1914 styles. I have a 1915 Wayne "blind", or "sidewalk" pump, but it has no gasoline brand identification on it. </span>
