lawrence
has anyone experianced any problem with the little resister that is mounted on the firewall of 1936 Ford Phaeton that controls the electric power to the stock coil? I could drive my Phaeton for about 35 min. and the car would operate perfectly after that time the motor would start to loose power and develop a miss. I changed the coil and got the same results adventually I jumped the the resistor and the car ran perfectuly I don"t have any elec specs about the resister does anyone have any information? FomocoService
They will break down over time.... I'd just replace it and you won't have any trouble
lawrence
Thanks for the information are you suggesting replacing the resistor or try another coil? Thanks
RocketDude
I'm thinking he is telling you to replace the resistor. Coils rarely go bad, however that is the first thing everyone changes when they have no spark. Coils won't spark if anything else in the ignition system isn't operating correctly.
