old_truck_nut
The plated trim pieces on my 1926 Roadster are in desperate need of re-plating. Am I correct in assuming these pieces should be nickel plated (not chrome) as was common in that era?Any recommendations of plating shops to do this work? Most all the plating shops have disappeared from where I live.WhitneyOrinda, CA (S.F. east bay)
Rusty_OToole
Nickel plating was the rule in 1926. Chrome didn't come in until 1928 or 29. I'm sure some other members can clarify this.It is possible to plate small items at home. You can do copper and nickel as well as other types of plating even chrome but personally I would be careful of chrome because it uses cyanide. Here is a leading supplyer of home plating equipment. http://www.caswellplating.com/
