  1. I just talked to some folks at Hershey.

Seems likely like many folks are

on some type of motorized transport.

If you are going to plan any event

for a demographic that has repeat

attendance and they are aging where

    traversing great distances by foot

then you have an obligation to

    accommodate their need to have

    the necessity of motorized transport.

  2. My point in starting this thread

is to educate members of a

    written policy regarding that

a major retail auto parts supplier

    has regarding “ non-returnable “ parts.

This policy may factor in your

decision to buy specific auto parts

    from this auto parts supplier.

Personally - when I can buy a part

    with a lifetime warranty from

one retail parts chain and the another

    considers the same part

    as “ non-returnable “ ….

I know where I’m taking my business.

  3. I have a commercial account

at O’Reilly Auto Parts - they

will run parts out to me if needed

if I am broke down and there is

    a store in the area.

There was no O’Reilly Auto Parts

in or near Batavia, New York and

Advance Auto Parts was the only

source - Autozone and Napa did

not have the valve in stock.

    My mechanical skills are sufficient

    to do most emergency repairs

and I could not find a diesel mechanic

    available.

The fact is - Advance Auto Parts

has an extensive list of non-returnable

parts that carry a one year to lifetime

    warranty at Autozone and O’Reilly’s.

The IPR valve I pulled originally in

Batavia, New York was replaced free

    under lifetime warranty from O’Reilly’s.

  4. Before you buy an auto part from
Advance Auto Parts - check  to see
if your part can be returned.

There is is long list of auto parts that
    are non-returnable
(even if they are defective when you buy them).

This includes many parts that have a
one year or lifetime warranty at other
retail auto parts stores like Autozone
    and O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Recently I need to purchase a replacement
IPR (injectior pressure regulator) valve while
on the road in Batavi, New York.

The only place that had it in stock was
Advance Auto Parts - I bought one and
installed it - it was NIB in sealed plastic
and labeled “ Made In USA “.

My diesel truck idled roughly after
I installed the Adbvace part but would
smooth out at highway speed - I made
it to Iowa - had my mechanic there pull
it and put it a lifetime warranty one from
O’Reilly Auto Parts a few days later
that was a different design - also
NIB and labeled “ Made In America “.

I looked at the valve from

    Advance Auto Parts.
    It was coming apart.
I took it to the Advance Auto Parts in Iowa.
Showed it to the female store manager.
    She refused to return it.

She referred me to their website return
    policy here:

https://aapretail.my.site.com/s/article/What-is-the-Advance-Auto-Parts-return-policy#:~:text=Return or exchange any item, these criteria will be denied

    Eventually - with persistence - I was
able to return the IPR valve  at a later date.

I will not buy anything else  at
    Advance Auto Parts.

  5. I replaced my 3/4 inch treated plywood

floor and put a garage floor coating

product on and extended it up the

    side walls a little ways.

    Before you do anything …

    Crawl under your trailer

    and check to see how

    securely the wood floor

is actually fastened to the trailer

    floor cross members …

My trailer floor had 75% of the

screws in the air because they

    missed the floor cross members

    completely above with the screws.

    Every floor cross member should

    be screwed into from above

at intervals of around 18 inches

to keep the wood floor from

    warping and coming up.

  6. If you look closely at most enclosed

trailers that have been in service

you will notice the material covering

the walls and ceiling have been damaged

water leaks on the roof - usually

    from ceiling vents or skylights.

I recently stripped out the interior

of my custom all aluminum enclosed

car hauler trailer - I opted to leave

    the walls open …

Would the epoxy floor coating marketed for concrete garage floors be  a good choice for the plywood floor in an enclosed trailer?  Seems like it would be tough, durable and with the colored flakes, not too slippery.  What have others used?  My trailer is new, so it makes sense to do something soon before the floor gets too dirty.

    Yes

There is another thread here on this:

Images from one of my posts on

  8. Conspicuity reflective tape can

be bought online in rolls or

at brick & mortar stores like

    YT Tractor Supply or Walmart

in multi packs of 12 inch lengths

    Every enclosed car hauler trailer

I have owned has had the back

barn doors or ramp door patterned

    similar to this ….

Since the most common view of

an enclosed trailer is from rear

    this distinguishes your trailer easily

    from other trailer while adding

    needed visibility at night.

Don’t put the farm triangles on.

In some states they are reserved

    solely for agricultural equipment.

Years ago I got waived into

    an Iowa Check Station during

    the daytime because they were

on this trailer - I removed them

in front of the Vehicle Enforcement

officer but I still got a ticket …
